Rated 5 out of 5 by from The little Good that Could I did a lot of checking around before buying a Goodman. Every person who had one had good things to say and no complaints. The price was right and our local dealer here in Portland, Willamette Heating, had a great rep as well. Instead of spending big money on consumer ad campaigns, Goodman concentrates on product quality. Get one!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Super quiet Only had this new furnace a week, but what a difference it makes! My older furnace had a bad heat exchanger. The unit was replaced. I did my research, checked out three different companies and one individual/private HVAC Tech/owner. The furnace is very efficient at 96% rating. And the price was excellent. I was expecting to pay twice the price. I jumped on it. Great investment.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Value Have the GMVC96 installed for almost 2 month now and very happy with the performance. Had a regular high efficiency furnace when the house was built and end up with cold bedrooms that are furthest away from furnace. This variable speed two stage furnace has completely solved that problem. Good product at a decent price, warranty looks pretty good (my other one broke down and need parts after 2 years, hope this one does better) and comes with a solid heat exchanger.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This Furnace Has Everything This brand of furnace was recommended to me as a do it yourself option by multiple friends in the HVAC industry. While it is newer and I can't personally comment on longevity, the professionals I've dealt with are confident in the warranty, and it covers a ton. I did many days of research before this purchase, and for starters, there is very few actual brands of furnace that are easy to purchase as a non licensed homeowner. I would say the price from the online dealer I used (Alpine Home Air) is right on or a little better than what a professional installer would be paying their regular wholesaler for the same brand or comparable furnace. Keep in mind, if you have your installer buy it for you they typically mark it up significantly before charging you. The purchase was easy. They have a product available with every combination of features you could want and in every size and efficiency level. Let me also add that the service from Alpine Air has been flawless. 4 different times speaking with the on the phone regarding ordering/support and the wait time was minimal, and each person I spoke to was very knowledgeable. They helped to make sure I purchased all the correct and compatible parts to do whatever installation steps I wanted to do myself. Installation: The installation instructions were very clear and detailed. If you are confident in your skills then it is definitely doable keeping in mind that you need to be able to handle electrical wiring as well as gas connections. Not so bad for an existing replacement. Mine happened to be new construction and the instructions covered everything I needed to know to safely install. My install was permitted with the city and will be inspected by an inspector as well to make sure it was done safely. I did hire someone to do the ducting because it needs to be made custom to fit the top of the furnace. If you are planning to have air conditioning as well, definitely buy the matching cased evaporator coil, because that needs to be attached to the main duct line, or will have to be cut in later which is somewhat of a hassle. Be very careful with the low voltage wiring harness that will go to your thermostat as well. I ended up blowing a fuse in the furnace. That being said, troubleshooting in the manual for this issue was super easy with the furnace error code, and was replaced with a cheap car type fuse. Performance: I couldn't be happier with the performance of this furnace. Keep in mind this is not the Rolls Royce of furnaces though I did buy one of the more expensive models in my size range. I'd be hard pressed to think of what kind of features I would be expecting should my pockets have been deeper and been able to afford more. The efficiency is rated in the high 90s, and it seems to be doing everything it is supposed to. It doesn't run noticeably loud based on my personal expectations standing right next to it. Any noise in the ducts I would have to place more on the ducting than a furnace. I intentionally bought a furnace a little oversized, but with the dual stage option (ability to automatically run on half the burners) I feel like I'm not giving up efficiency or quality or service. Overall it has done a great job of making a cold house warm, and that is really all I wanted. Conclusion: All of my expectations were met or exceeded on this purchase. The furnace also looks great and seems to be well constructed and have a durable finish. It's a nice gray color with what appears to be a thick powder coated finish. All of the thumb screws and knockout holes line up perfectly and if you care about how this thing looks in your basement you should not be disappointed. I couldn't find a better value myself and have been fully satisfied by the performance thus far. The service from Apine Home air products was also great, and I would not hesitate to use them and buy a Goodman furnace again. Go ahead and buy one of these you won't be disappointed.
