Energystar
What Is Energy Star?
A joint program of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and
the U. S. Department of Energy (DOE), ENERGY STAR, helps all homeowners
save money and protect the environment through energy efficient products
and practices. Over the past decade, ENERGY STAR has been a driving force
behind the more widespread use of such technological innovations as efficient
fluorescent lighting, power management systems for office equipment, and lo
standby energy use. ENERGY STAR provides a trustworthy label on over 50
product categories (and thousands of models) for the home and office. These
products deliver the same or better performance as comparable models while
using less energy and saving money. And the results are adding up. Americans,
with the help of ENERGY STAR, saved enough energy in 2007 alone to avoid
greenhouse gas emissions equivalent to those from 27 million cars - all while
savings $16 billion on their utility bills. For additional information on the ENERGY
STAR program, visit www.energystar.gov.
